About This British Cooking Class
Our Proper British Date Night Cooking Experience takes on some of the classics of British cooking, including one of the great dinner-party centerpieces: Beef Wellington.
You’ll make your own individual Beef Wellingtons, wrapping tender beef with mushrooms and flaky puff pastry, and learn how to get the pastry crisp and golden while keeping the beef properly cooked. Alongside, we’ll prepare honey-glazed roasted parsnips, champ (creamy mashed potatoes with butter and scallions), and asparagus with homemade hollandaise.
For dessert, we’ll make sticky toffee pudding with whiskey and warm toffee sauce, because the British are very good at puddings and there is no reason to argue with them about it.
Along the way, you’ll learn plenty of useful techniques for working with puff pastry, cooking beef, making hollandaise, and getting the whole dinner to the table at the same time. It’s hearty, properly British, and an excellent dinner for a chilly evening.
Throughout the class, we chop, stir, fold, whisk, and bake side by side, learning new techniques, sharing good conversation, and enjoying a relaxed evening together in Springfield’s tiniest (and happiest) kitchen. Whether you come with a friend, family member, co-worker, or anyone else you enjoy spending time with, it’s a deliciously proper night out.
BYOB
We suggest a bold Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux blend, a classic Syrah/Shiraz, or a rich Pinot Noir for red wine lovers. If you prefer white, try a lightly oaked Chardonnay or a Viognier. A fine Scotch whisky or Irish whiskey also pairs beautifully.
ADMIT TWO
Each ticket admits two people! You don’t have to bring a romantic partner; friends, gal pals, adult kids, parents, anybody you want to share the cooking and eating with is great!
