Weddings & Celebrations

We don’t really do weddings anymore.

Except when we do.

There was a time when Pickwick & Cherry’s business-ancestors made a great many wedding cakes. Beautiful ones, too. We still know how.

These days, though, weddings are not a major part of what we do. Custom wedding work requires an astonishing amount of time, correspondence, logistics, transportation, setup, and explaining the difference between a semi-naked and a naked wedding cake in a way that doesn’t get our email blocked by your firewall. At the prices we would feel comfortable charging most people, it simply does not make much sense for us.

That said, doing things that do not strictly make economic sense is not exactly unheard of around here.

So we are selective.

If you’ve been coming to our classes for years and are now getting married, please tell us. We love getting to be part of the next chapter of people we’ve come to know around our table.

If your wedding involves an unusually interesting food idea, a strange venue, a cultural tradition we would get excited about researching, a spectacular dessert problem, or some bit of genuine whimsy, also tell us.

Queer weddings are, as they have always been, enthusiastically welcome here.

And sometimes somebody simply asks us something so delightful that we say yes.

Some of our Faves

Over the years, our wedding work has included everything from collections of small cakes and elaborate pastry tables to S’mores bars, pies, cookies, éclairs, and desserts designed around the people getting married rather than around a standard wedding-bakery menu.

If we’re going to do a wedding, that’s generally the part we’re interested in: figuring out what belongs at your particular party.

Reid +
Bekah

For Reid and Bekah, we made a small cutting cake decorated with green glacage and gumpaste succulents, mirroring the table decor and favors. This complemented a selection of pastries, cookies, and cream puffs.

Catherine +
Jeff

This wedding featured this lovely modern fondant-covered column-cake, plus every guest got their own mini layered cake at their place. My favorite part, though, was the tiny sculpture of the couple’s dog peeking out from under the fondant!

Jason +
Thomas

For Jason and Thomas, we made a four-tier ombré cake fading from ivory to deep purple, finished with fresh flowers and a custom topper featuring the two of them, their pets, and a tiny cake. It was personal, fun, and of course, delicious!

Olivia + Caleb

For Olivia and Caleb’s cowboy-themed wedding, we made this adorable strawberry cake to cut, plus macarons, cream puffs, and a S’mores Bar, where we flambeed homemade marshmallows for guests!

Kaylee +
Matthew

For this autumn wedding, we made a dramatically amber-glazed cake with gold leaves, deep green foliage, and a subtle nod to the couple’s favorite story in the topper. It was warm, glossy, a little theatrical, and very much theirs.

“Our wedding was a blur. I remember a few things vividly: my bride’s face, how hot it was in the July sun, and the wedding cake. It was not your typical wedding cake. It was way better. It was by far the best wedding cake I have ever had.”

Think yours might be our kind of wedding?

Tell us about it.

We don’t maintain a standard wedding package list, and filling out this form does not commit either of us to anything. Give us the date, the place, approximately how many people you’re feeding, and what you’re imagining.

If it sounds like something we should talk about, we will.
